Business continuity

Clients rely on the firm to be there when they need it. This statement describes how the firm continues to operate if something it depends on is not.

Offices

If the New York office cannot be used, its work moves to Secaucus, which keeps desks, telephones and copies of every current engagement for that purpose. The support desk’s telephone number is diverted within the hour. If Secaucus cannot be used, instruments are calibrated in New York and records are kept in a second location, which is not published.

Placements

Every standing placement has a named relief inertial of the same class or larger, who can be in place within two hours in the New York area. No client is left with an empty chair.

Systems

Intranet Suite installations run on the client’s own systems and continue to work if the firm’s offices are closed. Password resets cannot be made while the support desk is closed, in an emergency or otherwise.

Leadership

If the chairman is unavailable, decisions pass to Mrs. Runciter, by consultation, through the Zürich office. If Mrs. Runciter is unavailable, which may happen at short notice when her readings are low, decisions pass to the managing director of the Prudence practice and the general counsel acting together. The firm’s articles provide for each of these arrangements.

Testing

The arrangements are tested each year. The most recent test, in May 2026, diverted the support desk to Secaucus for a morning.
